The park on Pier 35 anchors the northern end of SHoP’s East River Waterfront.
Working with noted landscape architect Ken Smith, the new eco-park was designed to provide the passive recreation space requested by the local community. An innovative habitat restoration component, known as Mussel Beach, was funded by a grant from the New York State Department of Coastal Resources. The long, angled wall of expanded metal, hosting a variety of climbing vines, is designed to screen the park from the adjacent working pier.
